Newlywed Christmas Eve

Well it's our first Christmas together as a married couple! Due to lack of spare finances we didn't buy a tree, but instead I made a makeshift "tree" out of lights on the living room wall. And our "fireplace" is a youtube video of a fireplace playing. (Not that we need the heat from it anyway, it doesn't even get below 71 degrees at night! In fact, it's midnight and we have the fan on right now!) :)

And here's my handsome nutcracker. We walked through the Aloha Center to see all the lights and decorations and Taiyo liked the giant nutcracker, hehe...

I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet, I just can't wait!

There are two things my Christmas could not go without.

I haven't gone a year without Mariah Carey's Christmas songs since it came out. It doesn't seem like I will ever grow out of it. Taiyo has been hesitant to start playing Christmas music yet, but he knows I'm dying to already, so last night while I was in the kitchen making bread (with the new breadmaker my mom got us!! Thanks mom!) Taiyo was at the computer and all of a sudden I heard this song start and I got so excited I just had to go kiss him and start dancing around the room, lol. He's so sweet.

And of course, what would Christmas be without A Christmas Story... Unfortunately we don't have a TV, so I'm not going to be able to have the 24 hour marathon playing this year... :( I'll have to find the movie to borrow somewhere.

Congrats! It's a.... jelly bean?!

We have a jelly bean! Can't tell if it's a pink one or blue one yet though.

I had my first prenatal appointment yesterday in Kailua. Everyone at the health clinic is SUPER wonderful and nice and helpful. The lady practitioner I'll be working with most of the time met with me and did all the normal checkup things, took a little "looksies" down there, and then to my surprise, said she was going to do an ultrasound! I'm only 7 and 1/2 weeks now, but she did it and took all the measurements and everything, and we could see the baby's little heart beating!! It was all a bit much for Taiyo to take in. He had never seen anything like that before (the whole checkup procedure, especially since the ultrasound was not abdominal... it was... from the inside). But I couldn't stop smiling just seeing the little baby inside me. It's limbs are just barely starting to grow. 33 more weeks to go! Oh, and the official due date is June 29!

Taiyo's First Halloween

This is Taiyo's first real Halloween. He made fun of me for getting so excited about buying a pumpkin, but I convinced him to carve one with me and I think he ended up getting into it more than I did!

The only candles we could find were some birthday cake candles, so T rubber banded them all together and lit them on fire... The flame was taller than the pumpkin but he insisted it was fine, and put them in a small tin can and put the whole thing, already lit, into the pumpkin with a pair of tongs lol... Crazy Tongan.

Wow.
I can't wait to see what he and our future kids come up with someday!

Sinalei or Larry?

Look what I found!

You know what that means! heehee...Taiyo and I found out on Wednesday that we are expecting our first baby! I know it was quick but we're excited! I sent text messages to my mom, dad and sister, saying "Hi Grandma :)", "Hi Grandpa :)", and "Hi Aunty :)" and I immediately got text replies back from my mom and sister like "Don't tease me, my heart is pounding!"

After a few minutes they called me and we talked for a while. While I was talking to my mom I got a text message from my dad simply saying "Sinalei or Larry?" LOL. We decided a while ago that we would name our first daughter Sinalei Marie Palefau. But we haven't thought of a boy's name yet. So far that text message is the only thing I've heard from my dad, but I talked to my mom again today and she said she's getting really excited and my dad is too. It's starting to get fun. I can't wait til the 2nd trimester though when I can start feeling it inside me! :D

Now I guess I don't have to say I'm full palangi, because now I have "a little Tongan in me!" LOL... I crack myself up sometimes... jk.

Hooray for eternal families!

BYUH Tongan Club Mini-Olympics!

The BYUH Tongan club has started a new tradition of "Mini Olympics" activities. The whole club is split into four colors: Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green. Taiyo and I are on the red team. Our team was defending champs and at our games last night we came out on top again!

This was our team
banner.---> It says "Mate Ma'a Tonga Team Victory" (kinda hard to read, I know).

Taiyo and I did a three-legged race together and came in second. I have a massive bruise on my ankle this morning to prove it, haha...

It was fun. I'm glad we're here at BYUH. We've been able to experience so many wonderful things and people here.

GO REDDD!!!
DID WE WIN? YEAH!! DID WE WIN? YEAH!! HOW DID WE DO IT??....
EEEEEAAASSYYYYYYYYY!

Enrichment

I attended my first enrichment as a married lady this week! lol... We made little wooden plaque things with our 7 ward goals painted on them, so hang on our walls.

1. Daily Prayer
2. Daily Scripture Study
3. Weekly F.H.E.
4. Weekly Date Night
5. Monthly Temple Attendance
6. Monthly Fast
7. Charity

I was in a rush because I had to leave early to go to work (I tutor statistics) but I was surprised that it turned out somewhat descent, and even Taiyo really seemed to like it when I showed him that night! hehe...

Yay for family ward Relief Societies! And for me being one of the married ladies! lol...

*Disclaimer: Any and all creativity that may emerge out of me at random times is attributable to my mom

'Aho Mahu'inga

August 23, 2008 Taiyo and I were sealed for time and all eternity in the Laie, Hawaii temple. We were so excited that his parents, Mateaki and Tu'iniua Palefau were able to come from Tonga to be with us!

They brought a huge 30-ft woven mat with our names woven into it!!! It was so beautiful!

Our colors were yellow and orange, and I loved the warm, light, tropical feel of it all.

Now we've been married for just over a month and we're loving it! Even though we both had to jump into classes just four days after our wedding, we've still been having lots of fun together.
